Gun no longer shoot: Chuck him out, the brute

Recently, Peter Hegseth of Fox News revealed this shocking abuse by Biden’s* Department of Veterans Affairs. "The VA processed 116 thousand medical and dental claims for illegal aliens in 2022, while delaying service to US veterans who served their country."

This veteran’s experience with the VA in Denver is that calling for an appointment puts you in a telephone carousel for hours without an answer. You can leave a call back number; however, they rarely, if ever, call back. It you do get through to one of the clinics to see a physician, the earliest appointment you can get is for about a year later.

If you do get an appointment, I can report, in fairness, that the VA medical staffers are eager to be of help and are quite professional. Ergo: This is a matter of a failure, by accident or design, of top management. This fiasco is not the fault of those who actually lay their hands on the vA patients.

The GOP-controlled House of Representatives should be on this outrage like the Biden* family on a Chicom "loan." Apparently, not.

So, here are the names of the Republicans who, so far, are sitting on their hands while illegal migrants are served but our veterans are not: Veterans Affairs Chairman Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL) and sub-chairs Rep. John Carter (R-TX) and Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX).

Feel free to contact them via the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, Cannon House Office Building, Washington, D.C. 20003. Phone: 202.225.3527. Fax: 202.225.5486.

It has been 82 years since the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor and too many youth born after World War II are not sure that that was all about. So it is with war when after the gunfire begins to fade from memory a once grateful nation becomes less grateful.

As Rudyard Kipling wrote: "For its Tommy this and Tommy that an’ Chuck him out, the brute! But then it is ’Savior of ’is country when the guns begin to shoot. An’ its Tommy this an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please. An’ Tommy ain’t no blooming’ fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!"

Yes, Tommy sees but answers the call to duty anyway. Well, so far. But one wonders about our overweight and unfit Regular Army that is more focused on its DEI social fitness score than on the physical fitness needed to prevail on the field of battle.

And meanwhile, during the Hanukkah Season (Dec. 7-- Dec. 15), we should be mindful of the suffering of Israel, our one true ally in the Middle East. October 7, 2023, was to Israel like our Pearl Harbor or 9/11.

The New Testament mentions that Jesus attended the "Festival of Lights," AKA Hanukkah, making this time of year something to be celebrated by Christians and Jews, alike.
