Putin and Obama: Studies in Megalomania

History will record Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, as delusional. Russian President Putin thought the Russian Army could quickly overrun the Ukrainian Capital and install a pro-Russian puppet government. Conquered Ukraine was supposed to be just another milestone in Putin’s announced quest to restore the power, glory and the borders of the former Soviet Union. The delusional Putin even expected his troops to be welcomed with open arms. How did that work out?

If anyone bothered to read Barack Hussein Obama’s two autobiographies, the first written when he was only age 34 and the second written at age 44, Obama’s megalomania shines through. Moreover, almost every time Obama speaks in public, he sets a new record for use of the personal pronouns "I," and "me." There is almost no room for the other parts of speech.

So, just what is Megalomania? Per Google: it is a psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence. An obsession with grandiose or extravagant things or actions. A form of insane delusion the subjects of which imagine themselves to be very great, exalted, or powerful personages; the delusion of grandeur.

Barack Obama’s great obsession was that ObamaCare could transform America into a socialist utopia by forcing every American to pay for a form of socialized medicine that would give Obama (and greedy insurance companies) total control over the U.S. economy. Unfortunately for Obama many did not want to pay high premiums for male pregnancy tests, for condoms nuns did not need, and for not being permitted to "keep their own doctor."

Another Obama delusion was that Hillary Clinton would complete Obama’s "fundamental transformation of America." How did that work out? Alternatively, mindless President Joe Biden* or that intellectual giant Vice President Kamala Harris would have to complete the Obama Revolution. How is that working out?

But wait. There is still a role for Joe Biden*. Recent election results at all levels and polling indicate the Democrats face a tsunami of congressional losses in November, 2022; making a continued conflict in Ukraine the Democrats’ only hope of saving a few House seats.

One way to increase the chance the war in Ukraine will continue into this November is to slow-walk the delivery of anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles to Ukraine. But what if Putin wants a ceasefire or a peace treaty prior to our November elections? Not likely. But anything is possible.

So, by calling Vladimir Putin every possible.-- but well-deserved -- dirty name imaginable, the chances that Putin, the megalomaniac, will come to the peace table prior to November are decreased. A page right out of Alinsky’s "Rules for Radicals."

What about the continued suffering of the Ukrainian people? Fuggetaboudid. As the Godfather might say, "It’s not personal. It’s just politics."

* Election disputed.
