Atheism and Climatism: Founded on faith

Business schools often use the case study of the dog food company that spent millions to promote its new dog food recipe. But sales plummeted. When top management asked for an explanation, the sales people said, "The dogs won’t eat it."

After the coldest and longest winter on record, with the polar ice caps increasing to record proportions, the Polar Bears thriving, and no measured global warming for the last 17 years and ten months, many Americans are no longer buying the idea of "global warming."

So, last week, the Obama White House staged the roll-out of a new approach called: The National Climate Assessment (NCA). The actual purpose of the event was to re-brand "man-made global warming" to "man-made climate disruption."

But for the hard-core environmentalists, who have profited enormously from government grants, global warming is a religion based on their unshakable "faith" that human activity is the root cause of global warming. In this country, religions are protected by the First Amendment which reads, in part, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

In fact, even Atheists are protected. This summer, The American Atheist Organization is launching: "Atheist TV," an Internet TV channel "dedicated to godlessness." Atheist TV’s evangelistic mission is to encourage people who doubt their faith to come out of the closet.

Maybe we should re-brand the global warming movement as: Climatism. (Nota bene: Climatism is different from Calvinism which, according to some teenagers, is the worship of designer jeans.) Like some religions, Climatism even had a High Priest. But he sold his television network for 500 million pieces of silver to the fossil-fuel-funded Al Jazeera TV Network.

And yes, humans can do harm. For example, in California’s cuckoo’s nest, the inmates, to benefit the tiny Delta smelt, diverted their reservoirs of fresh-water away from their drought-stricken, food-producing San Joaquin Valley and poured all their fresh water into San Francisco Bay. Ergo: higher food prices.

Climatism even has a denomination that believes in man-made global-cooling. Yes, cooling! And there are even Heretics who do not believe that humankind has anything to do with climate change. What a concept!

The Obama White House thinks global warming is "settled science" and the fossil-fueled U.S. economy must be turned upside down to stop "climate disruption." Science, however, is never "settled." Early science thought the Sun orbited around Planet Earth, only to discover that the Earth orbits around the Sun.

Let’s have a show of hands of those readers who feel pressure on the job to at least give lip-service to the Climatism’s Doctrine of Global-Warming. Oh, oh. Apparently, many of you live in fear of the Climatist Inquisition.

We already know volcanic eruptions lead to global cooling. Therefore, we don’t need to worship at the altar of Climatism to know that ejecting huge amounts of carbon particles into the atmosphere is not a good idea. So, someone tell the natives in those mud huts to douse their cooking fires. Someone tell the Red Chinese, the East Indians, and the Russians to knock off all that pollution. But what about the Atheists? Do they believe in Climatism? Atheist TV may provide the answer.
