ObamaScare: Busting the brass

Ever since the September 11-12, 2012, Islamist attacks in Benghazi, Libya, the Pentagon press and hundreds of retired colonels, generals, and admirals have been abuzz with accounts of how senior military commanders are being purged by the Obama regime and replaced with officers who agree with Candidate Obama’s often-stated worldview that the U.S. should step down and take rank as just another one of the world’s industrialized nations.

On October 12, 2013, ABC-TV’s Diane Sawyer did a story about the 9th general fired since Benghazi. Lt. Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin, USA (Ret.), who was a founding member of Delta Force says, "...It is unprecedented for the number of four-star generals to be relieved of duty, and not necessarily relieved for cause." Army Major General Paul E. Vallely, USA (Ret.) charges Mr. Obama is, "Purging the military by firing top-level commanders and that his ultimate goal is to ’destroy U.S. military superiority to the ’advantage of our global enemies.’” According to Investor’s Business Daily, a senior retired general said on the condition of anonymity that "they’re using the opportunity of the shrinkage of the military to get rid of people that don’t agree with them or do not toe the party line."

As Commander-in-Chief, and elected twice, Mr. Obama has every right to have senior commanders who will carry out his worldview. But one would think he would simply convene all the military brass and say, "Look, it’s my way or the highway!" But that is not how the purge is being conducted. Instead, senior commanders are being cashiered on the basis of some rather dubious claims of alcohol abuse, improper sexual relationships, adultery, personal misbehavior, using counterfeit casino chips, and even (oh, my gosh!) cursing.

In his fifth year in power, this is how Hitler purged the senior officers who did not agree with him when Hitler told them that he was going to use armed force against Austria and Czechoslovakia, even if it involved Germany in a war with Great Britain and the United States: Hitler didn’t need a NSA to identify dissident generals. He had Goering, Himmler, Goebbels, Heydrich, and ambitious junior generals such as Keitel and Jodl.

First, Reichmarshal Goering planted, Fräulein Erna Gruhn, a former prostitute and porn actress, as secretary to Field Marshal Werner von Blomberg, the Commander-in-Chief of the Wehrmacht. Goering urges von Blomberg, a long-time widower, to marry Erna. Hitler attends the wedding. While the couple honey-moon on Capri, Goering gives a police report on Erna to Hitler. Von Blomberg is forced to resign.

Next, was Colonel General Freiherr Werner von Fritsch, the Commander-in-Chief of the Army. Goering, Himmler, and Heydrich force Hans Schmidt, a drunken bum, to swear von Fritsch was gay and had been paying Schmidt blackmail money. Although not married, von Fritsch was not gay. Actually, Schmidt was blackmailing a gay named Frisch. Nevertheless, von Fritsch was fired.

When Hitler’s purge was over, 60 senior generals and admirals had been dismissed. According to the Investor’s Business Daily of October 29, 2013, the Obama regime has gotten rid of 197 senior commanders. So much for the vaunted German efficiency.

[The star-crossed lovers, Werner and Erna von Blomberg, survived the war on the lovely shores of the Wiessee in Bavaria. But he died at Nuremberg, waiting to testify against those who arranged his purge.]
