Election 2012: "Bumps in the road."

Last week, Conan, one of the late-night comedians, joked: “Madonna told her audience that she would strip naked if Mr. Obama is re-elected. In a related story, Mr. Obama is trailing in the polls by 97-percent.” Joking aside, the mainstream media (MSM) are using polling data based on who showed up to vote in 2008, causing the presidential race to appear to be in a virtual dead heat.

But the pollsters with the best records for predicting the outcome of presidential races, say the composition of the 2012 electorate won’t be anything like the 2008 electorate. According to: www.unskewedpolls.com, the MSM should be reporting as follows: NBC News/WSJ: Romney plus 7; NY Times/CBS News: Romney plus7; Fox News: Obama plus 2; Reuters: Romney plus 10; Washington Post/ABC News: Romney plus7, and CNN: Romney plus 8.

Last week, Mr. Obama spoke in Milwaukee in an arena fire-rated for a maximum of 5,000 people. Even though the arena seats were not completely full, the MSM reported Mr. Obama spoke to over 18,000 people. But the MSM did stop short of claiming that Mr. Obama fed the multitudes with a mere five loaves and fishes.

Mr. Obama is popular with Russia’s MSM as well. The Moscow Times -- Russia’s only daily English-language newspaper – is carrying stories about how Russian President Vladimir Putin wants Mr. Obama to be reelected. The Moscow Times carries other stories attacking Mr. Romney. See for yourself at: www.themoscowtimes.com.

At the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Charlotte, there were some “bumps in the road.” Mr. Obama was scheduled to speak in the 74,000-seat Bank of America Stadium. But the speech was moved to the 20,000-seat Time-Warner Cable Arena. The organizers feared rain. But at speech time, the sky was cloudless. Go figure.

Another “bump” in Charlotte: A coalition of over 100 Christian churches prepared 5,556 welcome-to-Charlotte gift baskets. But the DNC officials refused to accept the gift baskets, saying the religious views of the Baptists and Catholics do not accord with the DNC platform on abortion.

Historically, Democratic Party Platforms frequently mention God and always accord with U.S. policy recognizing Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel. But the 2012 DNC Platform Committee eliminated God and Jerusalem. Sensing disaster, the White House ordered the DNC Chairman to put God and Jerusalem back into the Platform. Hooting and jeering, most of the 5,556 delegates refused to be overruled. So, the DNC Chairman “democratically” gaveled God and Jerusalem back into the Platform. See: http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/hannity/2012/09/06/dnc-floor-erupts-over-restoring-god-jerusalem-platform.

Despite early White House denials, al-Qaeda celebrated the anniversary of 9/11 by killing a U.S. ambassador, his aide, and two Navy SEALS. The White House claimed a yet-to-be-released film that insults the Prophet caused the violence, not the anniversary of 9/11. Go figure.

Meanwhile, that bottle of urine with a crucifix inside is back in a NYC “art” gallery. Twenty years ago, Christians complained the bottle was blasphemous; however, the courts ruled the urine bottle is protected under “freedom of expression.” Christians accepted the ruling without violence. A writer for the National Journal On-line suggests a bottle of urine containing the Prophet’s photo be placed in the same “art” gallery. You decide what would happen.
