History and the Chinese Virus: Dark Chapters

The history of the Red Chinese/Wuhan virus (Covid-19) in America will include at least one chapter detailing how partisan politics caused the needless deaths of possibly as many as 100,000 Americans. Deaths that could well have been avoided by the early use of the HCQ cocktail.

Fair disclosure: Should this writer develop any Covid-19 symptoms, the HCQ cocktail is in my briefcase. It contains: hydroxychloraquine, zinc sulfate, and azithromycin. Cost: $40.00. Far less costly than the Covid-19 treatments being pushed by Big Pharma. And not likely to cause harm. For example, during the Vietnam War, hundreds of thousands of GIs took a weekly dose of chloraquine (a stronger version of hydroxychloraquine). Generally, the only side effect was a mild case of diarrhea.

So why hasn’t the HCQ cocktail been more widely prescribed? Answer: Because many physicians fear being sued for prescribing a treatment that has not been approved by the FDA for use in the treatment of Covid-19. Given that the overwhelming weight of science-based studies of the HCQ cocktail, both foreign and domestic, have documented that early use of the HCQ cocktail is saving millions of lives, one wonders why the FDA is not responding to published science?

Recently, Harvey A. Risch, M.D., Ph.D., the head epidemiologist at the Yale School of Public Health, said: "There’s no question that in the people who need to be treated, and are treated early, hydroxychloraquine has a very substantial benefit in reducing risk of hospitalization or mortality.”

Dr. Risch went on "to accuse the opponents of HCQ of being engaged in a massive disinformation campaign that stretches from the government to the media, that’s either suppressing this message or it’s countering it with a false message.

“It’s outrageous,” continued Dr. Risch, "People need to be writing or calling their congressmen and senators and complaining that this is not the way the country should work... A bureaucracy that’s in bed with other forces that are causing them to make decisions that are not based on the science — that is killing Americans."

But playing politics with America’s health does not stop with telling physicians what they can or cannot prescribe for their patients. Some governors and mayors are using lockdowns as a way to influence the November election.

Children need to be in school. Adults need to be working at their jobs. Those emotional and economic needs far outweigh the risks of Covid-19. Especially, if physicians are free to prescribe HCQ.

Unfortunately, the states of: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, provide another dark chapter in the history of Covid-19. The governors of those states ordered Covid-19 positive seniors back into their nursing homes and assisted-living centers, spreading the Covid-19 infection among their peers. Consequently, almost half of U.S. Covid-19 deaths have occurred in senior-care facilities.

Just as soon as the U.S. Army’s 1,000-bed Javits Center Hospital was approved for Covid-19 use, Covid-19-infected seniors could have been sent there. Consequently, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has a lot of explaining to do.

History is replete with heroes and villains. Unfortunately, it appears the history of the Covid-19 virus in America will have more than its share of villains.
