CENTRAL VIEW for Monday, July 5, 2010

by William Hamilton, Ph.D.

November, 2010: The next American Revolution?

Come this November’s elections, we will render a national judgment with regard to Democrat control of Congress for the previous 34 months along with Democrat control of the White House for 22 months. That judgment will focus on: Illegal immigration, Iranian nukes, the economy, corporate bail-outs, Afghanistan, the BP oil spill, and ObamaCare.

Illegal immigration: Mr. Obama just said we need amnesty before securing our borders. Granted, it makes perfect political sense for the Obama administration to want to create a permanent left-wing majority by granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants and then have ACORN register them to vote straight Democrat. As for border security, Mr. Obama just said our southern border is too long to secure and fences don’t really work. Wonder if he will take down the fence around the White House?

Iran and nuclear weapons: The Obamessiahs and the U.N. won’t do anything meaningful to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power in control of the oil of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East. White House to Israel: You are on your own. Polling data suggest some American Zionists who voted for Mr. Obama are having second thoughts.

The US economy: So far, most of the job growth is in government jobs, many of which do not really produce anything but more paperwork. Speaker Nancy Pelosi just said one of the ways to create jobs is to give more people more unemployment checks. Earth to Speaker Pelosi: No government has ever spent its way into prosperity. That leads to hyper-inflation, making the savings of our seniors virtually worthless.

Corporate Bail-outs: In essence, Obama, Reid and Pelosi are trying to recreate Mussolini’s corporate fascism: You pretend to leave the ownership of business in private hands; however, government calls all the shots. That is what has happened to the financial services industry and with GM (Government Motors) and Chrysler. Ford Motors, which rejected a government takeover, is making money.

Afghanistan. In 2008, Candidate Obama trapped himself in a false dichotomy which, as you know, is the consideration of only two alternatives. Candidate Obama said President Bush was wrong to be in Iraq when we should be fighting in Afghanistan. He needlessly painted himself into the Afghanistan corner. Other alternatives could have been considered.

The Oil Spill. It provides the Obamessiahs a chance to shut down off-shore exploration forever. White House chief-of-staff, Rahm Emanuel, once said: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Instead of telling the Coast Guard, the EPA, and the Corps of Engineers to back off their stringent standards and let the locals stop most, but not all, of the spill, the reaction of the federal bureaucracy has been either overly restrictive or non-existent. Did the Coast Guard really need to shut down the oil skimmers for 24 hours to inspect for life preservers and fire extinguishers? Why have only 400 of 2,000 U.S.-based oil skimmers been allowed to redeploy to the BP site? Why isn’t the Jones Act suspended so foreign vessels can come into American waters to help suck up the oil spill? You decide.

ObamaCare: As Speaker Pelosi infamously said, “We have to pass the ObamaCare legislation to find out what is in it.” Now, we are finding out the IRS is going treat employer-provided medical insurance as added income on which you will be taxed. Someone has to pay for providing “free” medical care for added millions. Guess who?

Current polling data suggest the Democrats will lose the House (No more Boeing 757 for Nancy Pelosi), and Republicans will gain five seats in the Senate. Sensing they may be doomed anyway, watch for some Democrats to introduce some last-gasp legislation that is even more radically Marxist-Leninist than we have seen already.
